The SMAS facelift addresses the full lower face and neck in a single procedure, making it appropriate for patients with substantial facial descent, deep nasolabial folds, jowl formation, and neck laxity including platysmal banding. Incisions are carefully planned within the temporal hairline, continuing around the front of the ear in its natural crease and behind the ear into the hairline at the nape. The surgeon repositions deep facial structures without placing tension on the surface skin — avoiding the stretched or pulled appearance associated with older facelift techniques.
The patient may choose local anaesthesia (with or without sedation) or general anaesthesia based on personal comfort. The procedure is outpatient — patients return home the same day.
