Medical Chemical Peel

Medical chemical peels differ from cosmetic salon treatments in the concentration of active acids used, the depth of tissue affected, and the level of physician control required during application. At RVmedCentrum, the peel is administered as a dermatology-department procedure — not a beauty treatment — with the formulation chosen based on the patient's skin type, concern, and Fitzpatrick classification.

The skin is cleansed and degreased before the peel solution is applied. The chemical agent — which may include alpha-hydroxy acids (glycolic, lactic), trichloroacetic acid (TCA), or other medical-grade compounds depending on the peel depth selected — is left on the skin for a controlled period before neutralisation or self-neutralisation.

Superficial peels address general dullness, fine texture irregularities, and mild sun damage with minimal downtime (1 to 2 days of mild flaking). Medium peels reach deeper into the dermis, stimulating collagen remodelling and addressing more significant pigmentation, fine lines, and early acne scarring, with 5 to 7 days of visible peeling and redness. The specific peel depth appropriate for each patient is determined at consultation.
