Bullhorn Lip Lift

The Bullhorn Lip Lift at RVmedCentrum surgically shortens the distance between the upper lip and the nose, revealing more of the vermilion (red lip) and restoring a youthful lip proportion. A small strip of skin is removed in a bullhorn shape directly under the nose; the scar heals within the natural crease at the base of the nostrils. The result is permanent and avoids the repeated injections associated with filler-only approaches.

The Bullhorn Lip Lift is a short surgical procedure that permanently elevates the upper lip by removing a precisely measured crescent of skin from beneath the nose. The incision follows the natural curve of the nostrils — the characteristic bullhorn shape — so the resulting scar is concealed in the base of the nasal crease, where it becomes virtually invisible once healed. As skin is removed rather than simply filled, the procedure increases the ratio of visible red lip (vermilion) to the white skin strip above it. This restores the youthful proportions in which the upper lip is lifted and the teeth are lightly visible at rest — an effect that filler cannot replicate, as filler adds volume without changing the lip's vertical position. The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia as a day case. The skin is marked precisely before incision to ensure symmetry. Sutures are removed at around day 7. Swelling and mild tightness are expected for the first 2 weeks; the final scar continues to mature and fade over 6 to 12 months. Because the result is permanent, the procedure is most suited to patients who are already happy with the overall size of their lips and wish to correct only the position and visible proportion.
