Veneers are best suited to teeth that are fundamentally healthy but cosmetically compromised; where there is significant decay or large old fillings, a crown may be more appropriate, and the prosthodontist will advise accordingly. Well-made and properly cared-for veneers are associated with good longevity, though they are a long-term commitment because some enamel is altered during preparation.
