Dental CT / 3D Scan (CBCT)

Type

CT Scan

Duration

20 min

A dental CT, or cone-beam 3D scan, produces detailed three-dimensional images of the teeth, jaws and surrounding structures, taken on Royal Dent's own in-house scanner. It is used to plan implants, assess impacted teeth, examine root canals and evaluate bone before surgery. The price depends on how large an area is captured. Having imaging on-site means treatment can be planned accurately in the same place it is carried out.

Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a specialised dental scan that captures the teeth, jawbone, nerve canals and sinuses in three dimensions, giving far more information than a conventional flat X-ray. It is a cornerstone of modern implant and surgical planning, allowing the clinician to measure bone height and width, locate the position of nerves and the sinus floor, and assess impacted teeth, complex root canal anatomy and bony lesions before treatment. Royal Dent operates its own CT scanner and digital X-ray in a dedicated diagnostic suite, so this imaging is available on-site and can feed directly into the planning of implants, extractions and endodontic work. The scan itself is quick and non-invasive: you stay still for a short rotation of the machine while the images are captured, and the three-dimensional dataset is then reviewed by the treating clinician. The published price varies with the field of view — a small scan of a single region sits at the lower end, while a larger volume covering both jaws is at the upper end — and simpler two-dimensional images such as a panoramic, cephalometric or single-tooth X-ray are available at lower fixed prices. As with all radiographic imaging, scans are taken when clinically justified and the field is kept to what is needed. Having diagnostics in the same clinic that delivers treatment supports accurate, well-planned care and avoids referring patients elsewhere for imaging. The clinician explains the findings and how they shape the treatment plan.
