Type
Red Light Therapy
Duration
20 min
Full-body red light bed at Remedy Place delivers near-infrared and red wavelength photons across the entire body surface in a reclined position. Associated with potential benefits to cellular energy production, skin quality, and muscle recovery via photobiomodulation. Sessions run approximately 20 minutes and are included in the Day Pass. No UV exposure — suitable for regular use.
Remedy Place's red light bed uses photobiomodulation (PBM) technology — delivering red (approximately 630–660 nm) and near-infrared (approximately 810–850 nm) wavelengths to the entire body surface in a reclined bed configuration. The mechanism is well-characterised in the photobiomodulation literature: red and near-infrared photons are absorbed by cytochrome c oxidase (Complex IV) in the mitochondrial electron transport chain, where they accelerate electron transfer and increase ATP synthesis. The downstream effects of increased mitochondrial ATP output include reduced oxidative stress in the treated tissue, modulated inflammatory cytokine expression, and upregulated collagen synthesis in skin fibroblasts. Near-infrared wavelengths (810–850 nm) penetrate deeper than red wavelengths, reaching muscle, fascia, and bone tissue, making the bed format effective for full-body systemic exposure that a targeted handheld panel cannot match. At Remedy Place, the red light bed is positioned as a recovery and skin health tool: post-workout or post-cold exposure sessions may support muscle repair, and regular skin exposure may support collagen density and skin tone over time. The 20-minute session duration aligns with typical PBM dose-response research protocols. Unlike UV tanning beds, red light beds contain no ultraviolet component and do not cause photo damage or tanning. The red light bed is included in the Remedy Place Day Pass ($350) alongside the sauna, lymphatic massage, and ice bath, and is bookable separately via membership credits.
