CT Scan
Duration
45 min
Computed tomography of a specific body region — head, spine, chest, abdomen, pelvis, or joints — performed by a team of nine specialist radiologists across three sites. Zero supplement charged at any time under Belgian law; patient pays the statutory RIZIV co-payment only. Medical prescription required. Digital images and written report delivered via a personal code accessible by patient and referring doctor.
Computed tomography at Radiology Antwerpen - Deurne covers the full range of diagnostic body regions: brain and head (including sinus CT), cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine, chest (pulmonary, mediastinal, pleural), abdomen and pelvis (liver, kidneys, pancreas, adrenal glands, bowel, bladder, reproductive organs), and joint CT or CT arthrography when MRI is not feasible. The examination is performed at two sites equipped with CT scanners: the Kielsevest private practice and the AZ Monica campus in Deurne. Patients register at the Medical Imaging/Radiology desk on the day of their appointment with their identity document and the prescribing physician's written order. A medical imager (radiographer) takes the patient through a brief explanation of the procedure, positions them on the examination table, and acquires the images. Intravenous contrast is administered where clinically indicated; any known allergies must be declared before the appointment. The scan itself takes approximately two to ten minutes, depending on the body region and protocol. Total appointment time including preparation and any contrast administration is typically 30 to 60 minutes. After the examination, the patient can return home immediately. The specialist radiologist prepares a written report, and both the images and the report are made available to the patient and referring doctor via a unique digital code or link — eliminating the need for a physical CD or repeat visit to collect results. Under the Vandenbroucke law (Belgian Royal Decree, published 13 November 2023), hospital-based radiology is prohibited from charging supplementary fees for CT scans for non-hospitalised patients. The published tariff schedule at Radiology Antwerpen confirms zero CT supplement at all hours. The patient's contribution is limited to the statutory RIZIV/INAMI co-payment, which varies by patient profile (preferential rate eligibility, MaF ceiling) and the specific CT examination code. A medical prescription from a referring physician is mandatory under Belgian radiation protection and healthcare regulation; self-referral without a prescription is not legally permitted. The nine-radiologist team is specialised across subspecialties including oncology imaging, neuroradiology, musculoskeletal imaging, cardiac CT, and interventional radiology. The practice is also a training centre for radiology residents and medical imaging interns. Languages spoken: Dutch, French, and English.
