Type
Whole-Body CT
Duration
45 min
Multi-region CT covering thorax, abdomen, and pelvis for oncological staging, comprehensive organ overview, or preventive screening. Low-dose protocols applied throughout. Contrast enhanced where clinically indicated. Physician pre- and post-consultation included. No referral required for self-pay patients.
Whole-body CT at Radiologie Raboisen 38 combines CT imaging of the thorax, abdomen, and pelvis in a single, continuous scanning session. The examination produces a comprehensive cross-sectional dataset covering the lungs, mediastinum, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, kidneys, adrenal glands, lymph nodes, and pelvic organs. It is the primary modality for staging of known or suspected malignancies, providing accurate anatomical characterisation of primary tumours and detection of nodal and distant metastases. Beyond oncological staging, the multi-region CT serves as a high-resolution structural survey for self-payers interested in a comprehensive organ assessment. The practice notes that CT of the abdomen is part of its routine offering alongside lung and cardiac imaging, and that whole-body CT covering all major body cavities is available as an individual examination. Low-dose protocols minimise radiation exposure while maintaining the image quality required for confident diagnostic interpretation. Depending on clinical indication, contrast-enhanced imaging may be recommended: intravenous iodinated contrast significantly improves detection and characterisation of hypervascular tumours, liver lesions, bowel wall abnormalities, and vascular pathology. When contrast is planned, the pre-examination consultation screens for contraindications including iodine allergy, reduced renal function (serum creatinine / GFR), and thyroid dysfunction (TSH). For patients with known or potential contraindications, a radiation-free whole-body MRI may be a suitable alternative — the practice offers this as a dedicated IGeL service and the physicians can discuss the relative merits in the pre-examination consultation. Practice co-founder Prof. Dr. Rainer Maas specialises in bone and soft-tissue tumour imaging and has published internationally in this field, providing the practice with particular oncological imaging depth. Following every CT, findings are discussed directly with the patient by a radiologist, and a detailed written report is provided. Images are accessible via the secure online portal immediately after the appointment.
