This test first checks for ANAs in your blood to help detect if an autoimmune disease is present. If ANAs are found, a series of more specific tests will be performed until autoantibodies associated with specific diseases are detected. This may include up to five rounds of testing on your provided sample. The test helps identify the presence of autoimmune diseases and guides further medical action. Preparation Required
No fasting required for most inflammation markers. Avoid intense exercise for 24 hours before testing, as it temporarily elevates CRP and other inflammatory markers. Inform your provider of any acute illness, injury, or infection, as these will cause temporary elevations unrelated to chronic conditions.
Biomarkers Tested
14A metal found in canned foods, solder, and industrial materials. While small amounts of inorganic tin are relatively non-toxic, high levels can cause gastrointestinal irritation. Organotin compounds are more toxic and affect the immune and nervous systems.
Antibodies to Sm/RNP (Smith/ribonucleoprotein) are highly specific for SLE.
Marker for mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD).
Osmolality measures the concentration of dissolved particles in the blood, indicating hydration status.
