A dental implant replaces a missing tooth with a small titanium post placed into the jawbone, which acts as an artificial root for a later crown, bridge or denture. Uśmiech uses Nobel Biocare implants and plans each case on its in-house 3D CBCT scanner so the position is mapped before surgery. As a surgery-led practice with a consultant anaesthetist on the team, placement can be carried out under local anaesthetic or, for anxious patients, sedation. Single implants and mini-implant systems to stabilise loose dentures are both offered.

About this treatment

A dental implant is a titanium post that is surgically placed into the jawbone to take the place of a missing tooth's root. Once the surrounding bone has healed around it — a process called osseointegration that usually takes several weeks to a few months — the implant can carry a crown to replace one tooth, support a bridge, or anchor a denture so it no longer slips.
