Compact entry-level health screen covering 7 core biomarkers for metabolic, thyroid, kidney, and liver function. At €41.06 all-in, a practical annual baseline for healthy adults without specific risk factors. Includes glucose, cholesterol, creatinine, uric acid, triglycerides, small CBC, and TSH.
The Basis-Check (klein) is designed as the minimum effective health screen — a small set of biomarkers chosen for their diagnostic yield across the most prevalent lifestyle-related conditions. Each marker serves as a sentinel for a distinct organ system or metabolic pathway, making this panel efficient for ruling out common problems in a single blood draw. ALAT (GPT) is the most liver-specific of the standard transaminases. Elevation suggests hepatocellular damage from causes ranging from non-alcoholic fatty liver disease — which affects roughly one in four European adults — to medication side effects, viral hepatitis, or alcohol-related injury. A normal ALAT provides reasonable reassurance about liver cell integrity. Total cholesterol and triglycerides together give a first-pass cardiovascular lipid assessment. While a full lipid panel with HDL and LDL fractionation (available in the Basis-Check groß) is more informative for risk stratification, isolated total cholesterol above 5.2 mmol/L or triglycerides above 1.7 mmol/L warrant further investigation. Fasting glucose screens for diabetes and pre-diabetes. Germany has an estimated 7-8 million people with pre-diabetes, the majority undiagnosed. Catching elevated glucose early enables lifestyle intervention before irreversible metabolic damage occurs. Creatinine with eGFR calculation screens for chronic kidney disease, which is typically asymptomatic until GFR drops below 30% of normal. Uric acid flags hyperuricaemia — a risk factor for gout and an emerging independent predictor of cardiovascular events and kidney disease progression. The small CBC (complete blood count) provides red and white cell counts, haemoglobin, and haematocrit — screening for anaemia, infection, and haematological abnormalities. TSH rounds out the panel as the single most sensitive marker for thyroid dysfunction, which affects 5-10% of the European population. This panel is well-suited for adults under 40 without family history of cardiovascular disease or diabetes. Those with risk factors should consider the Basis-Check (groß) for expanded coverage.
