Laser hair removal at Projekt Skora uses a medical-grade diode laser system to deliver concentrated light energy at a wavelength absorbed preferentially by melanin in the hair shaft. The laser energy travels down the hair shaft to the follicular bulb, where it converts to heat and damages the dermal papilla and stem cell-rich bulge region responsible for hair regrowth. This selective photothermolysis achieves permanent hair reduction in treated follicles while leaving surrounding skin intact. The full bikini treatment covers the entire pubic region including the bikini line, mons pubis, labia, and perianal area. Each session takes approximately 30 minutes. The laser handpiece incorporates a contact cooling tip that chills the skin surface to 5°C before, during, and after each pulse, significantly reducing discomfort and protecting the epidermis from thermal injury. Hair grows in cycles, and the laser is only effective on follicles in the active growth phase (anagen) when the hair shaft is connected to the papilla and contains maximum melanin. Because only 20-30% of follicles are in anagen at any given time, a series of 6-8 sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart is required to treat the full population of follicles as they cycle through the growth phase. After a complete treatment course, most patients achieve 80-90% permanent hair reduction. Occasional maintenance sessions may be needed once or twice yearly for residual fine hairs that were dormant during the initial treatment series. Patients are advised to avoid sun exposure and self-tanning products on the treatment area for 2 weeks before and after each session to minimise pigmentation risk.
