Professional depigmentation treatment using the Dermamelan protocol by Mesoestetic. Targets melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and sun spots through a two-phase approach — in-clinic mask application followed by a home maintenance regimen.
Dermamelan at Projekt Skora is a medical-grade depigmentation protocol developed by Mesoestetic for the treatment of stubborn hyperpigmentation including melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), and solar lentigines. The treatment addresses melanin overproduction at multiple points in the pigmentation pathway, combining immediate corrective action with long-term melanogenesis regulation. The in-clinic phase involves application of the Dermamelan Treatment mask — a thick, occlusive preparation containing azelaic acid, kojic acid, phytic acid, retinol, and arbutin. This mask is applied by the treating dermatologist and left on the skin for a prescribed duration (typically 8-12 hours depending on skin type and severity of pigmentation). The patient leaves the clinic with the mask in place and removes it at home according to instructions. The mask creates a controlled, moderate peeling response over the following 3-5 days with redness, tightness, and visible flaking as the superficial pigmented epidermis is shed. The second phase — and the critical determinant of long-term results — is the home maintenance regimen included in the treatment price. The Dermamelan Maintenance cream contains a combination of depigmenting agents (including tranexamic acid and niacinamide) that the patient applies daily for 6 to 12 months. This extended maintenance phase continuously suppresses tyrosinase activity and prevents melanin re-accumulation in the treated skin. Without consistent maintenance, hyperpigmentation will return — particularly with melasma, which has a strong hormonal component. Significant lightening of dark patches is typically visible within 2-3 weeks after the in-clinic session, with progressive improvement over 3-6 months of maintenance use. Strict daily sunscreen application (SPF 50+) is mandatory throughout the entire treatment course. The protocol is suitable for Fitzpatrick skin types I-IV; darker skin types require modified parameters to manage the risk of paradoxical post-inflammatory pigmentation.
