Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing for the full face. Creates microscopic treatment zones that stimulate deep collagen remodelling, reduce scarring, and resurface skin texture. One of the most effective treatments for acne scars and sun damage.
Fractional CO2 laser treatment at Projekt Skora uses a 10,600nm carbon dioxide laser to create thousands of microscopic columns of thermal injury in the skin — known as microthermal treatment zones (MTZs). Each column vaporises a narrow cylinder of tissue from the epidermis through the upper dermis, surrounded by zones of coagulated tissue. The untreated skin between columns serves as a reservoir of healthy cells that migrate into the wound channels, driving rapid re-epithelialisation within 5 to 7 days. The fractional approach retains the resurfacing power of traditional ablative CO2 lasers while dramatically reducing healing time and complication risk. By treating only a fraction of the skin surface per session (typically 15-30% depending on settings), the procedure achieves substantial collagen remodelling and textural improvement without the extended recovery and pigmentation risks associated with full-field ablative resurfacing. CO2 laser is considered the gold standard for deep acne scarring, particularly ice-pick and boxcar scars that do not respond adequately to microneedling or non-ablative lasers. It is equally effective for photodamage, fine lines, rough skin texture, enlarged pores, and surgical or traumatic scars. The treatment depth and density are adjusted by the physician based on the indication — lighter settings for general rejuvenation and texture improvement, more aggressive parameters for deep scarring. Recovery involves 5 to 7 days of significant redness, swelling, and a weeping wound-healing phase. Patients must avoid sun exposure for 4 to 6 weeks post-treatment and use strict sun protection during healing. The initial redness fades over 2 to 4 weeks, and new collagen continues to form for 3 to 6 months after the procedure. Most patients achieve meaningful improvement in a single session, though deep scarring may benefit from 2-3 treatments spaced 8-12 weeks apart.
