Multiparametric 3T MRI of the prostate gland for early cancer detection and staging. Progardia is Denmark's first private clinic to offer dedicated prostate MRI screening, with specialist uro-radiology review.

About this treatment

Progardia established itself as Denmark's first private clinic offering dedicated prostate MRI screening, using multiparametric protocols on the 3T Signa Architect. The examination combines T2-weighted anatomical imaging with diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) and dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) sequences to characterise prostatic lesions according to the PI-RADS scoring system. The 3T field strength is particularly advantageous for prostate imaging because…

The scan is read by a radiologist with uro-radiology expertise who assigns PI-RADS scores to any identified lesions, ranging from PI-RADS 1 (clinically significant cancer highly unlikely) to PI-RADS 5 (clinically significant cancer highly likely). This structured reporting standardises communication with the patient's urologist and guides decisions about biopsy, active surveillance, or further investigation.

Prostate MRI is increasingly used as a first-line screening tool alongside or in place of PSA blood testing, as it can detect clinically significant cancers while reducing unnecessary biopsies for indolent disease. This scan requires a referral from a GP or hospital. Results are delivered within 3-5 business days via personal phone consultation.
