Type
MRI Scan
Duration
30 min
Targeted 3T MRI of the knee joint assessing menisci, cruciate and collateral ligaments, articular cartilage, bone marrow, and surrounding soft tissues. AI-enhanced imaging with musculoskeletal specialist review.
The knee MRI at Progardia exploits the 3T field strength to deliver high-resolution images of all intra-articular and periarticular structures. The menisci are assessed for tears, degeneration, and displacement. The anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments and the medial and lateral collateral ligaments are evaluated for partial or complete tears. Articular cartilage on the femoral condyles, tibial plateaus, and patellofemoral joint is graded for chondral defects and thinning. Bone marrow signal is assessed for contusions, stress reactions, and occult fractures. The AI-enhanced coils conform closely to the knee anatomy, maximising signal return while reducing scan time. Post-processing algorithms sharpen the fluid-cartilage and ligament-bone interfaces where diagnostic decisions are most commonly made. The resulting images provide the detail that orthopaedic surgeons and sports medicine physicians need for treatment planning. This scan is appropriate for acute knee injuries, chronic knee pain, pre-surgical assessment before arthroscopy or reconstruction, and monitoring of known meniscal or ligamentous pathology. No referral is required, and the scan is typically available within days of booking.
