Laser Hair Removal (LightSheer DESIRE)

Laser hair removal with the medical-grade LightSheer DESIRE diode laser, which targets the pigment in the hair to disable follicles and reduce regrowth over a course of sessions. Its contact-cooling handpiece makes treatment more comfortable and suitable for areas large and small, from the upper lip and underarms to the legs and back. Because hair grows in cycles, a series of sessions spaced several weeks apart is needed for lasting reduction.

Laser hair removal uses pulses of light absorbed by the pigment in the hair shaft, which converts to heat and disables the follicle's ability to regrow hair. Because only hairs in the active growth phase respond at any one time, several sessions spaced roughly four to eight weeks apart are needed to treat each follicle while it is susceptible — typically a course of several sessions, with the exact number depending on the area, hair colour and skin type. A session can be as quick as a few minutes for the upper lip or underarms, or longer for the legs or back. The skin may look slightly pink and feel warm for a short time afterwards, and sun protection is advised between sessions. Laser hair removal works best on darker hair against lighter skin; very fair, grey or red hair responds poorly.
