Cone-beam CT (CBCT) is a 3D dental scan that captures detailed images of the teeth, jawbone and surrounding structures in a single quick rotation. At Pro Medical Clinic Dent it is used to plan implants, assess impacted teeth and wisdom teeth, investigate the root canals and evaluate bone before surgery. Having imaging on site means diagnosis and treatment planning can be carried out in one place. Panoramic, cephalometric and spot radiographs are also available.
Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a specialised dental and maxillofacial scan that produces a three-dimensional image of the teeth, jaws, sinuses and surrounding bone from a single, fast rotation around the head. Compared with a flat two-dimensional X-ray, the 3D dataset lets the dentist assess bone height and width, the exact position of nerves and the sinuses, the shape and number of root canals, and the orientation of impacted teeth with far greater accuracy. At Pro Medical Clinic Dent, CBCT is used most often to plan dental implants — measuring the available bone and planning safe implant positions — and to evaluate impacted or buried teeth such as wisdom teeth before surgical removal. It also supports complex endodontic (root canal) cases and the assessment of cysts or other lesions in the jaw. Because the imaging is carried out on site, surgical and implant planning can be done in the same place as the treatment, which is convenient for patients travelling for care. The scan itself takes only a short time and is painless; you remain still while the machine rotates once around your head. The clinic also offers conventional dental imaging — panoramic (OPG) radiographs for an overview of all the teeth, cephalometric radiographs used in orthodontic assessment, and single RVG spot radiographs for individual teeth. The dentist will recommend the appropriate type of imaging for your situation and explain the findings as part of your treatment plan.
