Knee MRI at PrivatMRT Berlin provides detailed imaging of all internal knee structures using the practice's Siemens 1.5T scanner. The examination covers the anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments (ACL, PCL), the medial and lateral collateral ligaments (MCL, LCL), both menisci, the articular cartilage surfaces of the femur, tibia, and patella, as well as the tendons, bursae, and surrounding soft tissues. Common pathology detected includes meniscal tears -- both acute traumatic tears from twisting injuries and degenerative horizontal cleavage tears that develop gradually with age and activity. Cruciate ligament injuries range from partial sprains with intact fibres to complete ruptures with associated bone bruising patterns visible on MRI. Chondral defects and early osteoarthritis can be graded, helping guide decisions between conservative management and surgical intervention. Baker's cysts, plica syndrome, iliotibial band friction, and patellar tendinopathy are also clearly delineated. Berlin's active population -- from recreational runners in the Tiergarten to competitive athletes at the city's numerous sports clubs -- generates substantial demand for knee imaging. The scan takes approximately 25 minutes and requires no preparation. The knee is positioned in a dedicated coil for optimal signal. No contrast agent is used for routine knee imaging.
