1.5T MRI of the thoracic spine (T1-T12) covering discs, spinal cord, and vertebral bodies. Less commonly scanned than cervical or lumbar but important for mid-back symptoms and systemic disease.
The thoracic spine MRI at PrivatHospitalet Danmark covers the 12 thoracic vertebrae from T1 to T12, imaging the discs, spinal cord, vertebral bodies, and posterior elements. This segment is less commonly affected by degenerative disc disease than the cervical or lumbar regions but is an important site for compressive fractures, metastatic deposits, inflammatory spondyloarthropathy, and demyelinating cord lesions. The protocol includes sagittal T1, T2, and STIR sequences with axial images through areas of clinical concern. The STIR sequence is particularly valuable for detecting acute compression fractures (distinguishing osteoporotic from pathological) and for identifying inflammatory enthesitis in conditions such as ankylosing spondylitis. Priced at 2,625 DKK as a single-region scan (before 6% surcharge). It is commonly combined with cervical and lumbar imaging in the full spine package at 6,300 DKK, or added as a same-day region at 1,313 DKK when another spinal segment is the primary examination.
