Contrast-enhanced MRI arthrogram of the hip or shoulder following intra-articular contrast injection. Detailed labral and cartilage assessment for joint instability. Requires medical referral.
About this treatment
MR arthrography at PrivatHospitalet Danmark involves injection of contrast material directly into the joint space (typically hip or shoulder) under imaging guidance, followed by MRI scanning. The distension of the joint capsule by contrast fluid separates and outlines the labrum and articular cartilage surfaces, revealing tears and detachments that may not be visible on standard MRI.
This technique is the investigation of choice for suspected labral tears in the hip (particularly in younger patients with femoroacetabular impingement), and for assessment of shoulder instability where the glenoid labrum needs detailed evaluation — such as Bankart lesions following dislocation or SLAP lesions in overhead athletes.
At 5,670 DKK (before 6% surcharge) the price includes the contrast injection procedure and the subsequent MRI scan. A medical referral is required for this examination. The combined procedure takes approximately 60 minutes including preparation, injection, and scanning.
