A porcelain veneer is a thin, custom shell bonded to the front of a tooth to improve its colour, shape, alignment or proportions. Veneers are a popular cosmetic option for closing small gaps, masking discolouration or refining the look of front teeth. Porcelain veneers are wafer-thin facings of dental ceramic that are bonded to the visible surface of the front teeth to change their appearance. They can brighten teeth that do not respond to whitening, even out minor crowding or rotations, close small gaps, lengthen worn edges and create a more harmonious smile. Because porcelain reflects light in a way similar to natural enamel, well-made veneers are associated with a natural, translucent appearance. At Prestige Dent veneer treatment starts with a discussion of your goals and a smile assessment, after which the teeth are prepared — often very conservatively — and impressions are taken so the laboratory can hand-build each fired-porcelain veneer to the agreed shape and shade. At the fitting appointment the veneers are tried in, adjusted and then permanently bonded to the teeth with a strong adhesive, and the bite is checked. Veneers are usually planned across several adjacent front teeth rather than a single tooth so that colour and proportions stay even across the smile. As a lower-cost, less invasive alternative for a single tooth, the clinic also offers a composite Injection Flow Technique restoration. Veneers are cared for like natural teeth with good hygiene and regular check-ups, and habits such as nail-biting or grinding are discussed as these can affect any thin ceramic restoration.
