Root canal treatment saves a tooth whose inner pulp has become infected or inflamed by removing the diseased tissue, disinfecting the canals and sealing them. At Prestige Dent the procedure is carried out under a dental microscope for high precision, which helps locate and clean the fine canal anatomy. Pricing reflects the number of canals in the tooth, and a crown is often recommended afterwards to protect it.
Root canal (endodontic) treatment is used to save a natural tooth when the soft pulp inside it — which contains the nerve and blood supply — becomes infected or irreversibly inflamed, often through deep decay, a crack or trauma. Left untreated this can cause pain and abscess formation, so the goal of treatment is to remove the diseased pulp, thoroughly clean and shape the root canals, disinfect them and seal them to prevent further infection, keeping the tooth in place rather than extracting it. At Prestige Dent the endodontist carries out the treatment under an operating microscope, which provides strong magnification and illumination to find the often narrow and curved canals, clean them fully and seal them accurately — care that is associated with better outcomes, particularly in molars with complex anatomy. The tooth is numbed with local anaesthetic so the procedure is comfortable, and the cost is set according to how many canals the tooth has, from a single-canal front tooth to a molar with four or more. Where a tooth has been root-treated before and the problem has recurred, the clinic also offers re-treatment, which involves removing the previous filling material before cleaning and resealing. Because a root-treated tooth can become more brittle, a crown or other protective restoration is frequently recommended afterwards and is planned separately. Suitability and the likely number of appointments are explained beforehand, often aided by the clinic's in-house imaging.
