Type
MRI Scan
Duration
1 hour
MRI of the mid-back (thoracic spine) covering T1-T12 vertebrae, discs, and spinal cord. Includes same-day results consultation with a radiologist.
Prescan's thoracic spine MRI covers the twelve thoracic vertebrae and the thoracolumbar junction. The examination is less commonly requested than cervical or lumbar spine scans but is important for mid-back pain with or without radiculopathy, suspected thoracic disc herniation, compression fractures, and screening for spinal pathology across the longest segment of the vertebral column. The scan uses AI-enhanced Deep Resolve imaging for improved resolution of the spinal cord, which at the thoracic level is narrower and more susceptible to compression symptoms. The radiologist assesses vertebral body alignment, disc morphology, and marrow signal for fractures or infiltrative processes. As with all Prescan MRI scans, the thoracic spine examination includes a pre-scan intake, the imaging session, and a personal same-day consultation where the radiologist walks the patient through every finding and recommends next steps if any abnormality is detected.
