Radial extracorporeal shockwave therapy (rESWT) using pneumatically generated pressure waves to treat musculoskeletal conditions, tendinopathies, and trigger points without surgery or medication.

About this treatment

Radial shockwave therapy delivers pneumatically generated pressure waves that radiate outward from the point of application into the surrounding tissue. Unlike focused shockwave, which concentrates energy at a precise depth, radial waves disperse across a broader area, making them particularly effective for superficial conditions and large treatment zones such as the plantar fascia, Achilles tendon, and lateral epicondyle.

At Prague Body Clinic, the physiotherapist identifies the treatment area through clinical assessment, then applies the radial shockwave handpiece with coupling gel. Treatment involves 2,000 to 3,000 impulses per session at a frequency and pressure calibrated to the specific condition. The mechanical stimulation triggers several therapeutic effects: increased local blood flow, breakdown of calcific deposits, stimulation of collagen synthesis, and…

A typical course consists of three to five sessions spaced one week apart. Most patients experience progressive improvement over the course, with clinical studies showing success rates of 70 to 80 percent for chronic tendinopathies that have been resistant to other conservative treatments. The 20-minute session is well tolerated, though some discomfort during application is normal and actually indicates that the pathological tissue is being effectively…
