Lumbar Spine MRI

Type

MRI Scan

Duration

25 min

MRI of the lumbosacral spine covering L1-S1 discs, cauda equina, and facet joints. The most commonly requested spine examination for lower back pain and sciatica.

The lumbosacral MRI protocol at PP Diagnostyka examines the lumbar vertebrae from L1 through S1, including all intervertebral discs, the cauda equina, neural foramina, and facet joints. This is the imaging investigation of choice for lower back pain, sciatica, suspected disc herniation, and spinal stenosis. Sequences include sagittal T1 and T2-weighted images for disc morphology and spinal alignment, axial T2 images at each disc level for canal and foraminal dimensions, and STIR for bone marrow oedema. The radiologist documents disc status at each level, grades any stenosis, reports facet joint changes, and notes spondylolisthesis or other alignment abnormalities. For comprehensive spinal assessment, patients can add thoracic and/or cervical sections at package rates: two sections at 1,350 PLN or all three at 1,800 PLN. This represents considerable savings compared to individual bookings.
