Thread Lift (PDO / PLLA)

A non-surgical thread lift uses absorbable PDO or PLLA threads inserted under the skin to subtly lift and reposition lax tissue and stimulate collagen along their path. Fine mono threads improve skin quality and give gentle support, while barbed lifting threads reposition the cheeks, jawline or neck. It suits early sagging where a surgical lift is not yet warranted, with results that build as collagen forms.

A thread lift is a minimally invasive alternative to surgical lifting that uses absorbable surgical threads — made of PDO (polydioxanone) or PLLA (poly-L-lactic acid) — introduced beneath the skin through a fine needle or cannula. Two broad types are used: smooth 'mono' threads, placed in a mesh to improve skin firmness and texture by stimulating collagen along their length, and barbed lifting threads, which have tiny cogs that grip the tissue so it can be gently lifted and repositioned. Both dissolve over several months, but the collagen they stimulate continues to support the area after they are gone. You may feel some pulling during placement and have mild swelling, tenderness or small bruises for a few days, with occasional slight puckering of the skin that settles.
