Mini facelift is a shorter-scar, less-invasive version of the full facelift that targets the lower face and jowl area with limited incisions and a faster recovery. At Plastická chirurgie A-Z Olomouc, it is suited to patients in their 40s and early 50s with early jowling and mild skin laxity who want a significant improvement but are not yet candidates for — or don't want — full SMAS surgery. The procedure can often be performed under local anaesthesia with sedation, reducing the need for general anaesthesia and shortening recovery.

About this treatment

Mini facelift uses shorter incisions (typically confined to the pre-auricular area only, without extending into the posterior hairline) to address localised descent of the lower cheek, jowl, and upper neck. Because the dissection is more limited, operative time is shorter (typically 90–150 minutes), recovery faster (most patients socially presentable in two weeks), and cost lower than a full SMAS procedure.

The technique still addresses some degree of the deeper SMAS layer — a pure skin-only mini-lift would not provide sufficient longevity — but the extent of deep-plane manipulation is less than in a full facelift. Surgical loupes are worn by the surgeons throughout, maintaining the clinic's precision standards even in shorter procedures.

Patient selection is key: the mini facelift produces best results in those with good skin quality and modest volume changes, where the primary issue is early-stage descent rather than significant ptosis or volume loss. Patients with more advanced ageing generally benefit from a full SMAS procedure.
