Liposuction — Small Area (Liposukce malá)

Small-area liposuction removes localised fat deposits from a single limited area — such as the chin, knees, inner ankles, or a small portion of the abdomen — that have resisted diet and exercise. Small-area liposuction targets discrete fat deposits in zones where fat accumulates disproportionately regardless of overall body weight — common examples include the submental (under-chin) area, inner knees, inner ankles, localised abdominal rolls, and upper arms (in a single small zone). The procedure is classified as 'small' based on the volume of fat to be removed and the complexity of the access rather than a strict centimetre measurement. The surgeons use tumescent technique: the target area is infiltrated with a dilute solution of saline, epinephrine, and local anaesthetic before fat is aspirated through small cannulas introduced through 2–3 mm incisions. The epinephrine component significantly reduces intraoperative bleeding; the local anaesthetic provides lasting post-operative analgesia. For small-area procedures, general anaesthesia is often not required — local anaesthesia alone or with light sedation is sufficient, reducing the overall cost and recovery burden. Post-operative care includes wearing a compression garment over the treated area for four to six weeks to support skin retraction and minimise swelling. Bruising typically resolves in two to three weeks; final contour results are visible at three to six months as the last oedema settles and the skin contracts. Patients may resume normal activity within a few days and light exercise after two weeks. Liposuction removes fat cells permanently — surviving fat cells do not expand further in the treated area under normal-weight conditions. However, it is not a weight-loss tool; patients should be at a stable, near-ideal weight before the procedure.
