Tumescent technique remains standard: the area is thoroughly infiltrated before aspiration begins, which controls bleeding and extends post-operative pain relief. The procedure is performed under sedation or general anaesthesia to ensure patient comfort throughout what is typically a 90–150 minute operative session.

Body-contouring results are gradual: the primary swelling clears over two to four weeks, but the final shape is not fully visible until three to six months after surgery as the deep tissue oedema resolves and the skin redrapes over the new contour. Post-operative compression is worn for four to six weeks and is important both for comfort and for encouraging skin retraction.
