Fat grafting — also known as lipofilling, lipografting, or autologous fat transfer — is a regenerative-aesthetic technique that uses the patient's own adipose tissue as a natural, biocompatible volume-restoring agent. The procedure has two components: a mini-liposuction to harvest fat from a donor site (commonly the inner thighs, abdomen, or flanks), and the injection of processed fat into the recipient area to restore volume or improve contour.

The harvested fat is centrifuged to remove oil, blood, and infiltration fluid, then re-injected in micro-droplet aliquots through fine-gauge cannulas to maximise the contact surface area — this is the key technical step that determines graft survival. Approximately 50–70% of transferred fat typically survives permanently; the surgeon slightly overfills to account for this resorption, so the final result at three to six months reflects the settled volume.
