Breast Lift (Mastopexy)

Mastopexy corrects breast ptosis — the downward migration of breast tissue caused by the stretching of Cooper's ligaments and the skin envelope over years of gravity, volume changes during and after pregnancy, or the effects of significant weight loss. Surgery lasts approximately two and a half hours under general anaesthesia at Sanatorium Sanus, with up to two post-operative nights available for drain management and wound observation. The pre-operative workup mirrors that for breast reduction: GP examination seven to ten days before surgery and mammological evaluation. Post-operative care centres on a compression bra worn for six weeks, restricted upper-body activity for four to six weeks, and protective sun care during scar maturation. Breast lift is suitable for women who have completed their family, as future pregnancies will re-stretch the repaired tissue. The procedure is not recommended for women who plan to breastfeed in the near future, as milk-duct anatomy may be affected by the incision design.
