Upper eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) at MUDr. Kloud's Hradec Králové practice removes the excess skin and fat that creates hooded, heavy, or fatigued-looking upper eyelids. Performed under local anaesthesia as an ambulatory procedure, the incision follows the natural eyelid crease so the resulting scar is concealed within the lid fold. No pre-operative GP examination is needed for this local anaesthesia procedure. Sutures are removed at day seven to nine. Most patients find that swelling and bruising resolve within two weeks, and the refreshed, open-eye appearance is immediately visible once initial swelling subsides. Where eyelid skin excess is restricting the upper visual field, correction may have functional as well as aesthetic benefits.

Upper blepharoplasty addresses the accumulation of excess skin in the upper eyelid — a process driven by the progressive laxity of the orbicularis oculi muscle and the stretching of eyelid skin over decades of movement. In its milder forms, this manifests as a heaviness or hooded appearance around the eyes. In more advanced cases, the skin folds over the lash line, sometimes impairing peripheral vision in the upper field. MUDr. Kloud performs upper blepharoplasty under local anaesthesia at the Sanus facility in Hradec Králové — no general anaesthesia or hospital stay is required. The procedure begins with precise marking of the skin to be removed along the upper lid, following the natural lid crease. After local anaesthetic infiltration, the marked ellipse of excess skin is excised; where prominent fat pads are contributing to lid heaviness, these are also addressed through conservative fat removal or repositioning to avoid an over-hollowed post-operative appearance. The wound is closed with fine sutures that sit within the eyelid crease. Because the incision follows the natural lid crease, the scar heals to a nearly invisible line that is typically undetectable in normal social interaction. The absence of any visible external scar outside the natural fold is one of the key reasons blepharoplasty patients describe their result as a refreshment rather than a surgical change. Post-operative care centres on keeping the eyelids cool during the first 24 to 48 hours using chilled gel eye packs or cooled chamomile tea bags, applied for 30 minutes on, 30 minutes off, to reduce swelling and bruising. Head-of-bed elevation during sleep minimises overnight swelling. Sutures are removed at a check-up on day seven to nine. Most patients have presentable eyelids for social activities by day ten to fourteen; makeup is permitted from day fourteen. From that point, gentle scar massage with a silicone product or a light oil accelerates scar fading. UV protection of the eyelid skin is recommended for two to three months. Upper blepharoplasty can be combined with lower eyelid surgery (CZK 18,000) in the same outpatient session, providing a comprehensive refresh of both lids. This combination is frequently requested by patients who have both upper skin excess and under-eye bags. There is no additional hospital stay required for the combined approach — both procedures are completed under local anaesthesia. Contraindications include active dry eye disease, glaucoma, and thyroid eye disease, all of which alter tear film dynamics and should be disclosed before surgery. Blood-thinning medications are stopped before the procedure to minimise bruising.
