BMAC (Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate) stem cell therapy is the most advanced regenerative treatment available at Pinnacle Orthopaedic Group, offering the potential for cartilage repair and structural tissue regeneration beyond what PRP or nStride APS can achieve. The procedure draws on mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) — multipotent progenitor cells capable of differentiating into cartilage, bone, and soft tissue — harvested directly from the patient's own bone marrow. The process begins with a bone marrow aspiration from the posterior iliac crest of the pelvis, performed under local anaesthesia. The aspirate is then processed in a centrifuge to concentrate the stem cells, growth factors, and anti-inflammatory molecules into a potent biologic preparation. This BMAC solution is then injected into the target joint or applied during a cartilage repair surgical procedure, depending on the patient's individual treatment plan. BMAC therapy holds promise for patients with early-to-moderate knee, hip, or shoulder osteoarthritis, cartilage defects, osteochondral lesions, and avascular necrosis (osteonecrosis) of the femoral head.
