Laser Therapy (HILT)
Duration
10 min
MLS® (Multiwave Locked System) laser therapy at Physio Clinic Suchánek delivers two synchronised therapeutic wavelengths simultaneously — one optimised for analgesia, one for reducing inflammation — in a precise, phase-locked pulse pattern that single-wavelength lasers cannot replicate. The 10-minute sessions are painless (a mild warmth sensation is common), require no recovery time, and are typically combined with a course of physiotherapy to accelerate tissue healing and allow patients to progress through rehabilitation with less pain.
MLS® laser therapy is a Class IV medical laser system developed by Cutting Edge Laser Technologies (an ASA Group company, Italy) that uses a patented multi-wavelength approach to simultaneously address both pain and inflammation — two processes that are interconnected but require different wavelengths to be effectively targeted. The MLS® system delivers two laser wavelengths in a precisely synchronised, phase-locked pulse: a continuous 808 nm wavelength for anti-inflammatory and anti-oedema effects, and a pulsed 905 nm wavelength for analgesia and tissue regeneration. The synchronised delivery means the biological responses to both wavelengths occur together rather than sequentially, producing a synergistic effect that clinical studies across multiple indications have found superior to single-wavelength therapy. At Physio Clinic Suchánek, MLS® laser is applied as part of the physiotherapy treatment ecosystem — used either as a standalone pain-management series or integrated alongside manual therapy and exercise to accelerate tissue healing in patients who would otherwise be limited by pain during rehabilitation exercises. The treatment protocol at the clinic begins with an assessment of the target area: depth of target tissue, acuity of the condition, and the patient's response to previous sessions. The laser head is then applied directly to the skin surface (or held millimetres above it) and moved systematically across the treatment area in a predetermined pattern. Sessions run 5–10 minutes depending on the size of the area being treated. No anaesthetic is needed — patients typically feel nothing or a gentle warmth. There is no recovery period; patients can return to normal activity immediately. A course of 5 sessions is the minimum recommended for most musculoskeletal presentations; 10 sessions for chronic tendinopathies, arthritis, or post-surgical healing. Clinical evidence supports MLS® use for: lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow), plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, rotator cuff tendinitis, knee osteoarthritis, post-surgical oedema and pain, and peripheral neuropathic pain. Contraindications: direct irradiation of the eyes (protective eyewear provided), active malignancy over the treatment area, pregnancy (over the abdomen/pelvis), active skin infections, photosensitive medications — discuss at your first session. Preparation: no specific preparation. Expose the treatment area. Wear or remove clothing over the area being treated.
