Maderotherapy at Physio Clinic Suchánek uses a set of anatomically shaped wooden tools — rollers, cups, boards, and boards — to deliver an intensive massage combined with lymphatic drainage that targets cellulite, body contouring, and water retention in the hips, waist, and abdomen. The wooden tools allow the therapist to apply precisely calibrated pressure across contoured body surfaces that is difficult to replicate with hands alone, draining the lymphatics while simultaneously working the subcutaneous connective tissue.
About this treatment
Maderotherapy (also spelled maderoterapia) originated in Colombia and has spread through European wellness and physiotherapy settings as a mechanical alternative to endermologie and other powered body-contouring technologies. At Physio Clinic Suchánek it is delivered using a full set of wooden instruments — each designed for a specific anatomical region and tissue response:
- Roller (rodillo): a ribbed cylinder applied with rolling and pressing strokes to the thighs, abdomen, and flanks to break down fibrous septae that create the dimpled appearance of cellulite
- Maderotherapy board (tabla): applied with sweeping strokes to mobilise interstitial fluid toward the lymphatic collectors
- Mushroom-shaped cup: provides localised suction-like compression for targeted fascial work over bony prominences and contoured surfaces
- Gua sha board (rasqueta): used on the abdomen for toning and circulatory stimulation
The session integrates these tools in a sequence: the therapist begins with lymphatic drainage movements using the board to open the regional lymph nodes, then progresses to intensive roller and cup work over the cellulite zones, finishing with a drainage sweep to mobilise the disrupted fluid toward the collectors.
