Thread Lifting

Thread lifting at Petra Clinic uses absorbable polydioxanone (PDO) or similar threads to mechanically lift sagging facial tissue in the cheeks, neck, jawline and brow, while simultaneously stimulating a sustained collagen formation response along each thread's path. Performed under local anaesthetic, thin cannulas introduce the barbed or cone-threaded sutures beneath the skin and along the SMAS fascia plane; the threads are then tensioned and secured to create an immediate visible lift. Over the following months the threads are gradually absorbed, but the collagen scaffold they have induced maintains the result for two to three years or more. A 1,000 Kč consultation fee applies (credited to treatment cost); the procedure takes 30–60 minutes and most clients return to work within one to three days.

Thread lifting at Petra Clinic is performed using modern absorbable suture materials — typically polydioxanone (PDO) or poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) in barbed, tornado or cone configurations — designed to engage the deep dermis and superficial SMAS layer for mechanical tissue repositioning. The procedure begins with detailed mapping of lift vectors based on facial anatomy assessment. Local anaesthetic is infiltrated into the subcutaneous plane along each planned thread tract; once anaesthesia is adequate, a thin introducer cannula is passed through a small entry point and positioned at the target depth. The thread is deployed inside the cannula so that the barbs or cones open and engage surrounding tissue; the cannula is withdrawn while the thread remains anchored. When the free end is pulled, tissue advances along the barbs, repositioning the ptotic soft-tissue component. Multiple threads are placed in a fan or mesh configuration depending on the area — typically four to eight threads per side for a standard midface lift. The thread is trimmed flush with the skin at the entry point, which is closed with a small adhesive strip. The result is visible immediately: sagging cheeks, nasolabial folds, jowl definition and brow position all improve from the moment the threads are tensioned. Over the following two to four weeks mild swelling and contour irregularity resolve, and the result softens into the skin naturally. Simultaneously, the foreign-body response around the thread stimulates organised fibroblast activity and collagen deposition along the thread path — a biological scaffolding effect that persists long after the thread has been absorbed (PDO typically dissolves in six to eight months). This induced collagen maintains the structural improvement for two to three years in most patients. Post-procedure, clients should sleep on their backs for one week, avoid vigorous exercise and facial massage for two weeks, and attend a review appointment at two weeks. Bruising and swelling are common for three to seven days; most clients return to daily activities and light work within one to three days.
