Microneedle Radiofrequency

Microneedle radiofrequency (MNRF) at Petra Clinic combines the skin-remodelling depth of fractional microneedling with the collagen-stimulating heat of radiofrequency energy. Arrays of ultra-fine insulated needles penetrate to a precisely set depth in the dermis, then discharge RF energy at the tip — heating collagen and elastin precisely where they sit, without damaging the overlying epidermis. This dual-stimulation approach treats wrinkles, acne scars, enlarged pores, post-pregnancy stretch marks and general skin laxity more effectively than either needling or RF alone. A topical anaesthetic is applied beforehand for comfort; most clients experience 2 days without makeup as the only noticeable post-treatment effect. A course of three sessions is standard.

Petra Clinic's microneedle radiofrequency protocol uses insulated microneedle arrays that bypass the epidermis to deposit RF energy directly in the mid and deep dermis. Each needle is coated with an insulating layer on its shaft, meaning the RF energy fires only from the exposed tip at the precise dermal depth set by the physician — typically 1.5–3.5 mm. This geometry protects the epidermis from thermal injury while delivering maximum energy where collagen remodelling is needed, making the treatment safer for darker skin phototypes compared with non-insulated devices. The RF heat causes immediate collagen fibre contraction and, over the following weeks, triggers fibroblast proliferation, new collagen synthesis and improved elastin network organisation. Simultaneously, the physical microneedle channels initiate a wound-healing cascade that further boosts growth-factor-mediated tissue regeneration. The combined mechanism addresses a broader range of concerns than either modality alone: fine lines and wrinkles, skin laxity, acne scars, enlarged pores, stretch marks on the abdomen and décolletage, and uneven texture. Before the session the skin is cleansed and a topical anaesthetic cream applied for 30–45 minutes. The handpiece is stamped across the treatment area in overlapping passes; most clients describe a mild stinging or pressure sensation, well controlled with topical anaesthetic. Immediately after treatment the skin is flushed and feels warm. Clients leave with a gentle post-treatment serum applied and should avoid makeup for approximately 48 hours and sunscreen is mandatory.
