The standard natural volume fill uses a low-viscosity, highly hydrophilic HA injected into the lip body via a cannula or fine needle, increasing volume proportionally while maintaining natural movement. The Russian lips technique, increasingly popular in the Czech and Slovak markets, uses injections directed towards the lip cupid's bow from the wet-dry border upwards, creating vertical height and a defined heart-shaped upper lip rather than the rounded volume of traditional augmentation — a significantly different technique requiring specific training. Border and contour definition treats the lip vermilion border and philtral columns with a precisely shaped linear bolus of medium-density HA, restoring the sharp definition that softens with age or was never pronounced in thinner lip types. Lip augmentation at Petra Clinic is performed exclusively by physicians, using topical anaesthetic and/or lidocaine-containing HA formulations to ensure tolerability. During the session the physician pauses at intervals to assess symmetry from multiple angles and adjusts volume distribution accordingly before proceeding. Immediately after, cold packs are applied to manage swelling; the final result is fully visible once swelling resolves at 48–72 hours. Asymmetry corrections require careful assessment at two weeks and may benefit from a minor touch-up at that point.
