Dermal filler injections at Petra Clinic use premium cross-linked hyaluronic acid (HA) to restore lost facial volume, smooth deep lines and refine facial contours — all without surgery. HA fillers work by attracting and retaining water molecules at the injection site, creating a soft, pliable volume that integrates naturally with surrounding tissue. The physician selects the appropriate filler product (varying in viscosity and cross-linking density) for each treatment zone — cheeks, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, nose, chin and hands. Results are visible immediately after treatment and last nine to eighteen months; HA fillers are also fully reversible with hyaluronidase enzyme if needed. Mild swelling and bruising may appear for one to three days.
Petra Clinic administers cross-linked hyaluronic acid fillers from premium manufacturers to treat the full spectrum of facial volumisation and contouring concerns. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring glycosaminoglycan present throughout the body's connective tissue; in the skin it holds up to 1,000 times its own weight in water, maintaining turgidity and cushioning. As HA levels decline with age, skin loses volume, elasticity and the structural support that defines facial contours. Dermal fillers restore this framework using highly cross-linked HA formulations — the cross-linking prevents rapid enzymatic degradation, extending duration of effect to nine to eighteen months depending on the product selected, the treatment area, and individual metabolic activity. Petra Clinic's physicians assess facial anatomy comprehensively before injection, analysing bone resorption patterns, soft-tissue descent and skin quality to determine the optimal placement depth and product viscosity for each zone. Deep placement (periosteal, supraperiosteal or deep fat compartment) with high-viscosity products provides structural lift in the cheeks, temples and jawline. Superficial or mid-dermis placement with softer, low-viscosity products addresses perioral lines, tear troughs and lip definition. The physician uses a fine needle or blunt-tip cannula depending on area and anatomy — cannula technique in the nasolabial folds and cheeks substantially reduces bruising risk. Before injection, a topical anaesthetic is applied and most premium HA products also contain incorporated lidocaine to minimise procedural discomfort. Immediately post-treatment the area may appear slightly overcorrected due to local swelling, which resolves over two to seven days to reveal the final result. Clients are advised to avoid hot environments (sauna, hot shower) and vigorous exercise for 24 hours. If a client finds the result unsatisfactory or asymmetric, the HA filler can be dissolved within days using hyaluronidase enzyme — a safety advantage unique to HA compared with non-reversible synthetic fillers.
