Laser hair removal at Perfect Skin Berlin uses a diode laser — the clinical gold standard for permanent hair reduction — to deliver wavelength-specific light energy (typically 808–810nm) that is selectively absorbed by the melanin pigment in the hair follicle. This selective photothermolysis heats the follicle's stem cells in the bulge region and the bulb's matrix cells to a temperature that permanently impairs or destroys their ability to generate new hair, without meaningfully heating the surrounding non-pigmented skin tissue. The treatment is effective only on follicles in the active growth phase (anagen), during which the melanin content is highest and the connection between the hair shaft and the papilla is intact. Because at any given time only 20–30% of hairs in a target zone are simultaneously in anagen, a full course of 6–8 sessions spaced 4–8 weeks apart is required to treat each follicle during its active phase at least once. After a complete course, most patients achieve 80–90% permanent hair reduction, with the remaining hairs often becoming finer and lighter.
