Halo by Sciton at Pearlman Aesthetic Surgery NYC — the world's first hybrid fractional laser combining ablative 2940 nm Er:YAG and non-ablative 1470 nm wavelengths in a single pass. Addresses fine lines, sun damage, pigmentation, uneven tone and texture, enlarged pores, and early skin laxity. Approximately sixty-minute session with three to five days of typical downtime.
The Halo hybrid fractional laser by Sciton is available at Pearlman Aesthetic Surgery and represents a significant advancement in fractional laser technology. Halo is the first device to combine two fractional wavelengths simultaneously in a single handpiece pass: 2940 nm ablative Er:YAG and 1470 nm non-ablative diode. This combination allows simultaneous ablative and non-ablative fractional resurfacing in a single treatment pass, rather than requiring two separate devices or sequential sessions to achieve the same dual-depth effect. The ablative 2940 nm Er:YAG component vaporises microscopic columns of the epidermis and superficial dermis in a fractional pattern, creating tiny ablative channels surrounded by intact tissue bridges; this direct tissue removal stimulates rapid surface renewal and addresses the textural concerns — fine lines, roughness, enlarged pores, and superficial acne scarring — that require actual resurfacing rather than just thermal remodelling. The non-ablative 1470 nm component penetrates more deeply into the dermis without ablating the surface, creating a coagulation zone that triggers collagen synthesis and remodelling in the mid-dermis — addressing skin laxity, deeper rhytids, and overall structural quality. The combination produces outcomes historically requiring either a more aggressive fully ablative treatment (longer recovery) or multiple lighter non-ablative sessions (more treatment visits and cost), achieving a middle path with approximately three to five days of recovery. During that recovery window patients experience mild bronzing of the skin as the microablated tissue surfaces shed, followed by progressive skin brightening, improved tone uniformity, and texture refinement over four to eight weeks as collagen remodelling matures. Halo is suitable for all Fitzpatrick skin types with appropriate parameter adjustment. A single Halo session produces meaningful improvement; two to three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart may be recommended for more significant photoaging.
