Root canal treatment saves a tooth whose inner pulp has become inflamed or infected by cleaning, disinfecting and sealing the root canals. PARKOWA carries out endodontics under a dental microscope for better visibility of the fine canal anatomy, which supports a thorough result. The price depends on how many canals the tooth has; molars with more canals sit at the upper end of the range. The tooth is often restored with a crown afterwards.
Root canal (endodontic) treatment is used to save a tooth when the soft tissue inside it — the pulp — becomes inflamed or infected, for example through deep decay, a crack or trauma. The dentist removes the damaged pulp, carefully cleans and shapes the narrow canals inside the roots, disinfects them and then seals them to prevent further infection, allowing the natural tooth to be kept rather than extracted. At PARKOWA this work is performed under a dental operating microscope, which magnifies and illuminates the canal system so that fine, curved or extra canals can be found and treated more reliably — a particular advantage in molars and in re-treatment cases. The number of canals largely determines the cost: a single-canal front tooth is at the lower end of the range while a multi-canal molar is at the upper end, and re-treatment of a tooth that was root-filled previously is more involved again. Specialised materials such as MTA may be used in certain situations, and because a root-treated tooth can become more brittle it is frequently rebuilt with a fibreglass post and protected with a crown afterwards, each priced separately. Treatment is usually completed under local anaesthetic over one or more visits depending on complexity. It suits patients with a painful, infected or previously root-treated tooth that is worth preserving; the dentist assesses the tooth, often with imaging, and explains the likely number of canals and overall plan beforehand.
