PRP hair loss treatment using the Eclipse ProGen PRP system to concentrate platelets and inject growth factors directly into the scalp to support hair follicle health and combat androgenetic alopecia and other hair loss conditions. Led by Dr Dawn Queen, a fellowship-trained hair restoration specialist at Park Avenue Dermatology. Three to four initial sessions are recommended, spaced four to six weeks apart, with maintenance every six to twelve months.
Park Avenue Dermatology's PRP hair loss programme is led in part by Dr Dawn Queen, MD, who holds a fellowship in hair restoration and specialises in alopecia — a depth of subspecialty expertise uncommon in general dermatology practices. The treatment uses the Eclipse ProGen PRP system, a closed-loop centrifuge and preparation system designed to produce a consistent, high-platelet-concentration output from each blood draw, improving reproducibility across sessions. After centrifugation, the PRP concentrate — enriched with growth factors including PDGF, VEGF, EGF, and insulin-like growth factor (IGF) — is injected directly into the scalp at the level of the hair follicle bulb, typically across thinning zones identified during the pre-treatment assessment. Growth factors delivered to the follicular microenvironment are associated with prolonging the anagen (active growth) phase of the hair cycle, stimulating the proliferation of dermal papilla cells that regulate follicle activity, and promoting vascularisation of the perifollicular tissue that supports follicle nutrition. PRP for hair loss is most studied in androgenetic alopecia (male and female pattern hair loss), but the clinic also addresses alopecia areata and other diffuse thinning conditions assessed at consultation. The initial course of three to four sessions spaced four to six weeks apart establishes cumulative growth factor signalling; follow-up with maintenance sessions every six to twelve months is recommended once initial response is established. Sessions run approximately thirty to forty-five minutes. The scalp may be mildly tender for a day following injections. Results in terms of reduced shedding and increased hair density typically develop gradually over three to six months as follicles respond to repeated growth factor stimulation.
