The HIFU Ultraformer treatment at OT.CO Clinic delivers focused ultrasound energy to precise depths beneath the skin surface, creating thermal coagulation points that trigger a wound-healing response and stimulate new collagen and elastin production. The Ultraformer device is a medical-grade HIFU platform that targets three tissue layers: the superficial dermis at 1.5mm depth, the deep dermis at 3.0mm, and the SMAS (superficial musculoaponeurotic system) at 4.5mm. The SMAS layer is the fibrous tissue plane that connects facial skin to the underlying muscular structure — it is the same layer that plastic surgeons physically reposition during a surgical facelift. By delivering focused ultrasound energy directly to this layer, HIFU produces a tightening and lifting effect that addresses skin laxity at its structural origin rather than merely treating the surface. During the 60-minute full-face session, the physician systematically covers the cheeks, jawline, chin, periorbital area, and forehead. Each pulse of ultrasound energy is visualised on the device screen, allowing precise depth and energy control. Patients experience a characteristic warm, prickling sensation during energy delivery — most tolerable without anaesthesia, though a topical numbing cream can be applied for sensitive patients.
