Microscope-assisted root canal treatment removes infected or inflamed tissue from inside a tooth, disinfects the canals and seals them, relieving pain and allowing a natural tooth to be kept rather than extracted. OrtoImplant Clinic carries out endodontics under magnification for precision, with pricing that reflects whether the tooth is a single-canal incisor or a multi-canal molar. Retreatment of previously root-filled teeth is also offered.
Root canal (endodontic) treatment is needed when the soft tissue inside a tooth — the pulp, which contains the nerve and blood supply — becomes inflamed or infected through deep decay, a crack or trauma. Left untreated this can cause significant pain and abscesses. The treatment removes the damaged pulp, cleans and shapes the fine canals inside the roots, disinfects them and seals them with a stable filling material, allowing the natural tooth to be saved. At OrtoImplant Clinic endodontic treatment is performed under a microscope, which provides magnification and illumination to help locate and clean the canals thoroughly — particularly valuable in molars, which can have several narrow or curved canals. The cost reflects this anatomy: single-canal front teeth are at the lower end, while multi-rooted molars take longer and sit at the higher end. Where the anatomy is complex or a previous treatment has failed, a cone-beam CT scan can be taken to assess the roots in three dimensions, and the clinic also offers retreatment of teeth that were root-filled before. Treatment is carried out under local anaesthetic and is generally comfortable. Because a root-treated tooth can become more brittle, a crown is often recommended afterwards, especially for back teeth, to protect it from fracture — this is quoted separately. Saving a natural tooth this way is associated with preserving normal bite and spacing and avoiding the need for an extraction and later replacement. The dentist explains the likely number of visits and the prognosis for the specific tooth at assessment.
