Zirconia Crown

A zirconia crown is a tooth-coloured ceramic cap that fully covers and protects a tooth that is heavily filled, cracked or root-treated, restoring its shape, strength and appearance. Made by OrtoImplant Clinic's in-house laboratory, zirconia is prized for its strength and natural translucency. The same material is used per point for fixed bridges that replace one or more missing teeth using the neighbouring teeth as support.

A dental crown is a custom-made cap that covers the whole visible part of a tooth. It is used when a tooth is too broken down, cracked, worn or heavily filled to be restored with a simple filling, and routinely after root canal treatment, when the remaining tooth becomes more brittle and benefits from full coverage. At OrtoImplant Clinic crowns are made from zirconia, a high-strength ceramic that is both durable and tooth-coloured, with a translucency that blends well with natural teeth at the front and stands up to chewing forces at the back. The tooth is first prepared by removing a thin, even layer of surface to make room for the crown, and a digital or conventional impression is taken. The clinic's own dental laboratory then fabricates the crown, allowing close control over fit, shape and shade, while a temporary crown protects the tooth in the meantime. At the fitting appointment the crown is checked for fit and bite and bonded into place. The same zirconia is used for fixed bridges, priced per point, where a false tooth is anchored to crowns on the teeth either side to fill a gap. A well-made crown is associated with restored chewing function and a natural appearance, and protects a vulnerable tooth from further fracture. Crowned teeth still require careful brushing, flossing and regular check-ups, as the underlying tooth and gum remain susceptible to decay and gum disease.
