A zirconia crown is a tooth-coloured ceramic cap that fully covers and protects a tooth that is heavily filled, cracked or root-treated, restoring its shape, strength and appearance. Made by OrtoImplant Clinic's in-house laboratory, zirconia is prized for its strength and natural translucency. The same material is used per point for fixed bridges that replace one or more missing teeth using the neighbouring teeth as support.
About this treatment
A dental crown is a custom-made cap that covers the whole visible part of a tooth. It is used when a tooth is too broken down, cracked, worn or heavily filled to be restored with a simple filling, and routinely after root canal treatment, when the remaining tooth becomes more brittle and benefits from full coverage. The tooth is first prepared by removing a thin, even layer of surface to make room for the crown, and a digital or conventional impression is taken. The clinic's own dental laboratory then fabricates the crown, allowing close control over fit, shape and shade, while a temporary crown protects the tooth in the meantime.
