A dental crown is a custom-made cap that covers a damaged, heavily filled or root-treated tooth to restore its strength, shape and appearance. OrthoTeam offers porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns and metal-free full-ceramic or zirconia crowns, the latter prized for their natural translucency on front teeth. Each crown is made to fit your bite and colour-matched to the surrounding teeth, protecting the underlying tooth while looking and functioning like a natural one.

About this treatment

A crown is an individually made restoration that fits over the whole visible part of a tooth, rebuilding it when a large filling, fracture, extensive decay or root canal treatment has left it weakened. By encasing the tooth, a crown restores its strength and shape and protects the remaining structure from further damage, while also improving appearance where a tooth is discoloured or misshapen. Treatment generally takes two visits. At the first, the tooth is prepared by removing decay and shaping it to receive the crown, an impression or digital scan is taken, and a temporary crown is fitted. The laboratory then fabricates the crown to the agreed shade and form.
