Dental CBCT Scan

Type

CT Scan

Duration

20 min

Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a three-dimensional dental scan that produces detailed cross-sectional images of the teeth, jawbone and surrounding structures. At OrthoTeam, in-house CBCT supports precise planning for implants, surgical extractions, root canal assessment and orthodontics, showing bone volume and the position of nerves and sinuses that two-dimensional X-rays cannot. The scan is quick, and the region captured can be tailored from a single area to both jaws.

Cone-beam computed tomography is a specialised form of imaging that rotates around the head to capture a cone-shaped beam and reconstruct it into a three-dimensional model of the teeth and jaws. Unlike a standard flat X-ray, a CBCT scan lets the clinician view the anatomy in cross-section and from any angle, revealing the height and width of available bone, the exact position of tooth roots, and the location of important structures such as the nerve canal in the lower jaw and the sinus cavities in the upper jaw. This three-dimensional detail is associated with safer, more predictable treatment planning. At OrthoTeam, in-house CBCT is used across several disciplines. In implantology it is essential for measuring bone and planning where an implant can be placed; in oral surgery it helps assess impacted or difficult teeth before extraction; in endodontics it can clarify complex root-canal anatomy; and in orthodontics it supports the analysis of unerupted teeth and jaw relationships. The scan itself takes only a short time — you remain still while the machine rotates once around your head — and is non-invasive. The field of view is chosen to match the clinical need, from a single region at 200 zł, to one full jaw at 300 zł, to both jaws at 450 zł, keeping the captured area proportionate to the question being answered. The clinic also offers conventional two-dimensional panoramic (OPG) and cephalometric images at 120 zł each for cases where 3D imaging is not required. Your clinician will explain why a scan is recommended and how the findings shape your treatment plan.
