This blood tests detects antibodies against the virus responsible for glandular fever.
This test analyses your blood sample for the Epstein-Barr (EBV) virus antibodies, to help diagnose a past, recent or current EBV infection. Epstein-Barr virus is one of the most common viruses in the world, and it is known to cause infectious mononucleosis, also known as mono or glandular fever. Most people are infected with EBV at some point in their lives, often during childhood or adolescence. In many cases, the infection goes unnoticed or causes only mild symptoms. However, when the virus does cause symptoms, they can include fever, sore throat, swollen lymph nodes, and fatigue. Simple and accurate blood test from a laboratory you can speak to. The results of your Epstine-Barr Virus Screen (EBV) Blood Test will be emailed to you as a secured PDF file, ready for your GP and will also be uploaded to our Health Dashboard area of the website.

Biomarkers Tested
6Immunoglobulin G (IgG) is the most common type of antibody in the blood, important for fighting bacterial and viral infections.
Immunoglobulin E (IgE) is a protein associated with allergic reactions that is normally found in very small amounts in the blood. IgE functions as part of the body's immune system (its defence against 'intruders').
Immunoglobulin G (IgG) is the most common type of antibody in the blood, important for fighting bacterial and viral infections.
Appears 2-4 months after initial infection and persists for life; indicates resolution of acute infection.
Detects HIV-1 and HIV-2 antibodies and/or p24 antigen. Fourth-generation tests can detect infection as early as 2–4 weeks after exposure. Early detection enables treatment that can achieve viral suppression and prevent transmission.
Detects antibodies to hepatitis C virus, indicating current or past infection. A positive result requires confirmatory RNA testing. Hepatitis C is now curable with direct-acting antiviral medications in most patients.
